I was reading an ASME briefing today that pointed out that there is a large group of ASME members using Facebook. Yeah, that Facebook. That social networking darling of the college crowd and latest straight from the garage Internet success story. Just in case you have no idea what I am talking about, check out the Facebook Wikipedia entry.
OK, so signing up was easy. Once I validated my email address and logged in an applet suggested that I use my contact list from GMail to see which of my friends may already be using Facebook. This was great. I lifted nary a finger and instanstly had invitations out to numerous friends. As of right now I have eight friends. But since it is Saturday and most people are probably enjoying the beautiful Fall weather, that number should jump by Monday.
Oh, did I mention that there at 1,192 ASME members using Facebookas of Today, September 29, 2007. Cool!
